The 2nd Meeting of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources annual session was held at Efalfal Resort, Pango from the 31st of June to the 3rd of July 2009.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Ralph Regenvanu together with a representative from the Vanuatu Agricultural Supplies (VAS), Mr Aron was signed on January 18, 2017 a contract for tender to deliver Water Supply Materials for Walarano Water Project, North East Malekula.
The Ministry of Lands is now preparing the first set of amendments to the new land laws which were passed by Parliament in December 2013 and gazetted on the 20th February 2014.
The Government is been praised by people at the community level following a recent Council of Ministers (CoM) decision to remove the powers of the Minister of Lands to sign negotiator certificates on behalf of custom landowners.
Recently, a New Director has been appointed, Mr. Albert Abel Williams. He hails from Ambrym and has a BA in Environmental Health and postgraduate qualifications in Health Research and Applied Epidemiology.
He has over 12 years of experience in government, non-governmental organizations and the private sector. For the past four years he has been running his own consultancy firm.
The Vanuatu Land Program was officially initiated and signed off on, on the 9th of December. This is an agreement that deals with addressing resolutions brought up by the National Land Summit of 2006 in the long-term. It is a big achievement for the Ministry of Lands as it paves the way for the Government to commence with tender of bidding process to allow a long-term Land Project to commence in 2011.
On the 13th of August 2009, the then Honourable Minister of Lands Harry Iauko and an entourage toured the northern island of Santo to consult with stakeholders concerning primarily land and energy issues.
