Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Projects
Currently, there are a number of Projects, involving cross-departmental involvement that are ongoing within the Ministry of Lands that include:
National Land Summit for 2006 (NLS) - This summit, although not a Project itself, has spawned the creation of numerous projects, such as the VSTLRI, to address miscellaneous Land Issues that affect Vanuatu's people adversely.
Vanuatu Short Term Land Reform Initiative (VSTLRI) - A number of Projects have being implemented under this initiative with the aim of putting in place the foundations for the launching of a longer term initiative, to deal with issues raised by the National Land Summit of 2006, that begins in 2010, to effectively deal with land issues that were identified during the National Land Summit of 2006.
Sustainable Land Management (SLM) - This project was initiated as part of a global program by the United Nations Development Programme, under the United nations Convention to Combat Desertification, to combat environmental and land degradation in Vanuatu.
Program of Work on Protected Areas (POWPAs) - This project is undertaken in Vanuatu, as part of the United Nation's Global Environment Facility (GEF), to create conservation and protected areas.
