Process for Acquiring a Surrender

A surrender is carried out for two (2) main reasons:

  • To perform a Subdivision on a previously registered title.
  • To change the Lease Class of a previously registered title (E.g. Residential to Commercial).

Based on the flowchart below, 2 Steps are skipped from 'Preparation of Consent to Transfer' directly to 'Consent is signed by declared Custom Owner or Lessor' if the lease in question is not disputed or urban land.

Preparation of Consent to Surrender.

Consent is lodged at the Lands Department.

Consent is lodged for Ministerial Approval.
